Imphepho

Helychrisum Odoratissmum

Wild harvested Imphepho from South Africa.

African Immortelle

Known as the most widely used medicinal and ceremonial herb in South Africa; Imphepho is traditionally used by shamanic healers, as an active call for divine guidance and protection from their ancestors.
It is said that Imphepho was the first plant medicine to be shown to the Sangoma healers of South Africa; once they had established a relationship with the Imphepho, she guided them to discover and learn how to use all other medicinal herbs.

Imphepho has a way of clearing the path, she creates a sense of relaxation and focus in the mind and body, awakening and centering our state of presence. If we’re feeling lost or neglected by life, Imphepho will help to revitalize with clarity and assurance. Her protective quality empowers us to align with our path by avoiding unnecessary distractions and negative influences.

A true ally on our healing journey, the bright spirit of Imphepho can help us move through fears and heavy emotions that inhabit the body and block the way.

For those able to receive her magic fully, through focused and intentional ceremonial use, Imphepho can provoke trance-like states of waking meditation, with a capacity to touch a deeper state of consciousness.

Drink Imphepho before bed and find freedom in your ability to rest; Imphepho will create a safe space from within for a deeply regenerative sleep.

During the night, Imphepho has a tendency to bring forward potent dream messages and lucid dreaming, while supporting dream memory.

Recognized as a fundamental herb to use for ancestral work, Imphepho is accessible and efficient for bloodline connection and communication.

Smudging Incense for Ceremonial Use:

The dried plant is traditionnaly burnt as a smudging incense to open a ceremonial space. For the Sangoma healers, bathing in the smoke induces a state of receptivity to the spiritual realm, inviting visions and ecstatic states of consciousness. With the witnessing support of Imphepho, rituals can be performed safely and messages of healing can be received.

Today still, Imphepho is often burned on charcoal for purification and protection, often used to cleanse the room of physical and energetic toxins.

Safety and Respect:

We suggest using Imphepho in privacy, with a feeling of intimacy and space from unwanted disturbances. It is important to express gratitude to the Imphepho, and of course consume mindfully and respectfully. You can even state, clearly, why you want to fuse with her energy and what you wish to find with her assistance. Offering this awareness and intention to the Imphepho will set guidelines and healthy boundaries for the experience.

Our Source of Imphepho:

Our Imphepho is respectfully wild harvested in South Africa.
