Maca, Peruvian Ginseng

Vital energy, mental clarity and sensuality — Maca is a sacred treasure of the Andes, revered by the Incas and still celebrated today as a powerful adaptogenic superfood.

Whether yellow, red or black, it brings balance to body and spirit: vitality, hormonal harmony, memory, endurance and passion.

Maca comes in three main forms:

Yellow Maca – the most balanced, ideal for daily use.

Red Maca – linked to hormonal support and feminine balance.

Black Maca – the most potent, renowned for enhancing memory, focus and sexual energy.

Adaptogenic by nature, Maca helps the body resist stress and fatigue, while restoring inner equilibrium. Traditionally known as a natural aphrodisiac and tonic, it supports periods of high activity as well as recovery.

  • Infusion/Decoction: 2–3 g in hot or warm drinks.

When not to use: Not recommended in cases of hormone-related pathologies (e.g. hormone-dependent cancers, severe endometriosis, unmanaged thyroid conditions). Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless advised by a health professional. May interact with hormone therapies.

Maca is naturally rich in proteins (10–15%), essential minerals (potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc…), vitamins (B1, B2, B12, C, D3, E, P) and 19 amino acids.

It also contains active compounds such as tannins, saponins, glucosinolates and isothiocyanates, linked to its energising and aphrodisiac qualities.

Andean legends say that Maca was gifted to humankind by mistake, when the thunder god Choque Chinchay’s lightning revealed a hidden root beneath the Earth. Once tasted, it filled the couple with love, strength and vitality.
